Extreme Couponing and Sports

First of all, I am not an extreme couponer. I do clip coupons from our Sunday paper, but realistically I only use maybe five of them. I don't clip coupons for stuff or products that we will never use. However, when a product like the brand of toothpaste or deodorant is buy one get one free I will definitely clip the coupon and use it. I also like to shop on Sunday afternoons when Payton is down for her nap and Derek is watching football. I have learned that trips to the grocery store are a ton easier without the little one in toe.

That being said, at our grocery store, Albertson's, the employees wear Cowboy jerseys to work. However, last Sunday I noticed a ton of shoppers wearing Cowboy jerseys as well. I didn't think much of it because it was Sunday and the Cowboys were playing. I just thought a lot of Cowboy fans were out stocking up for the game. However, the nice deli worker told me that if you wear a Cowboy jersey to the store on a day the Cowboys are playing you get 10% off your total purchase. I had no clue. Apparently, they have been running ads on tv and radio nonstop. However, since our tv is only on Nick Jr. or Disney Jr. (where they play no commercials) I was completely out of the loop.

The funny thing about this is that Derek has three Cowboy jerseys just sitting in his closet. Yes, when the Cowboys play he will put one on, but that leaves two others for the picking. The problem is Derek is 6'4" and I am not. Therefore, his jersey will come down to past my knees. I am seriously debating if saving 10% is worth looking like I am wearing a jersey dress to the grocery store.

I am thinking it is. Besides............everyone else who was in the store last Sunday had one on. There was even two older ladies in their church clothes with a Cowboy jersey over it.

I also watched for the first time the show Extreme Couponing. OMG......... who has the time to do that? Also, I am sorry, but I am pretty "picky" about certain products like laundry detergent, toothpaste, and deodorant. However, it was amazing to see people get tons of stuff and pay next to nothing, but what is that one lady going to do with 200 boxes of cereal? Also, did she have 100 coupons for the cereal (assuming they were buy one get one free)? Where do you get a 100 coupons? I know that this is a totally random post, but seriously, I was fascinated and scared at the same time watching that show.

They pay websites to send them the coupons. They also dumpster dive. They walk around neighborhoods and take peoples unwanted papers. I have watched that show too and it is like a train wreck, you don't want to look but at the same time, you can't take your eyes away! Crazy!!

I'm with you on the coupon ladies..I don't need 200 jars of Ragu, even if it is free. I say wear the jersey and get your 10%. Food is expensive! We all know you're cute who cares what the weirdos at Albertsons think?

Definitely wear the jersey! And take a picture and then share with us. :)

Shopping during the Cowboy game is the only time I will go to the store on a Sunday. Otherwise, I can't handle the Sunday madness. Too many people to deal with!

Oh, and because I'm too lazy to go back and comment . . . I'm glad you got your continuance!
