Rant of the Day

Dear Southwest Airlines:

Please explain this to me. I am trying to book airfare for my daughter and myself to go to Amarillo for my niece's forth birthday in June. My daughter will be 6 months old at the time of the trip. I was just planning on purchasing a ticket for myself, since your airline allows children under two to fly for free. However, I noticed on your web site you have an infant fare that parents can purchase for a discounted air ticket. Since my airfare was $49.00 each way, I was thinking I would call and inquire about your infant fare. Since it was supposed to be cheaper, I thought if I could get a round trip ticket for my infant child for around $40.00 total it would be worth it to have the extra room on the plane. To my utter shock, your infant fare discounted rate was $69 each way on the flights I had booked. WHAT?????? It cost a total of $20.00 MORE each way for a six month old to travel than an adult on your airline?

I would suggest that you refrain from advertising your infant rate as a "discounted" rate because it is clearly not.

Thank you.

What the Hail?

(Disclaimer.... this is not a picture from last night's storm)

Last night was a rough night for all the Cargills, including Daisy. Payton went to sleep at 8:00 and Mommy followed at 9:00. However, at 11:30 last night a major hail storm came through. The wind and the hail were so loud that Daisy started freaking out, which woke up Payton. Derek and I were both up and turned on the TV to see if the worst part was over. Therefore, the entire Cargill Clan was up from 11:30 to 12:30 last night. Derek and I both parked our cars outside the garage for various reasons. Me because I am still not comfortable parking in the garage because of the mirror incident when Payton was a month old and Derek because his garage door opener is malfunctioning. So, at midnight we had the debate on whether or not we (okay Derek) should go out there and move the cars in the garage. We (Derek)decided that the worst part appeared to be over and quite frankly it was too late now. The good news is that this morning both our cars were okay. I think they said we only got nickel to quarter size hail (although it sounded a lot worse). The bad news is that it got Payton off her sleeping schedule so we were up every hour on the hour from midnight until 6:00 a.m. when she finally decided to fall back asleep for good. The only problem is I have to be up at 6:30.

Pictures From Grannie's Visit

How many Grandmas does it take to dress a baby for her Easter pictures?

Payton after her photo shoot. She is thinking...... "The pictures are going to cost how much?????"

Such a cutie.

Modeling is hard work. So after a hard day (20 minutes) of sitting for pictures, Payton found the perfect spot for to nap.

Bunny Ears and Memaw

Memaw bought Payton some bunny ears for Easter. They are a little big, but who can resist a 3 month-old with bunny ears on her head?

Payton and Memaw. This picture is actually from her last trip here. Payton just loves her Memaw. They play fashion show when she is here. Memaw always comes with new outfits that we just have to model.

The Big Three

GUESS WHO TURNED THREE ON SUNDAY?????

Cooper!!! Happy B-Day Cooper. I can't believe it has been three years since you were born. I love you so much.

Cooper's official party will be next week, but Sunday was his actual B-Day.

Grandpat and her grandchildren.

No Pictures for this Tale........

And it is probably best that there are none. Remember how I said Payton has experienced one diaper malfunction in her lifetime. Well, this morning at 5:30 she had her second, and it was bad. I will spare you the details, but lets just say, Payton & Mommy both got a bath this morning at 5:45 a.m., her sleeping onesie is now in the trash and my sheets are currently soaking in the washing machine. What a way to wake up in the morning.

Happy Thursday.

Daisy & St. Patty's Day

I haven't devoted enough picture time to our first baby Daisy. As many of you know, Daisy goes to doggy daycare two days a week. Well, she happened to go on St. Patty's day and this is what Derek came home with when he picked her up.

Sorry, for the quality, but I had to scan it in and then save it. Look at her big smile. The headband she is wearing says, "Kiss Me, I'm Irish."

Too Busy To Upload Pictures

I didn't have time to upload the pictures from this weekend, but here are a couple from Grandpat's cell phone. Payton had some crazy hair this morning, so my mom put the bow on her head.

Busy, Busy, Busy.....

Let's see. First of all, Grannie Camille came into town and watched a.k.a. hugged and kissed Payton on Thursday and Friday. Payton just loves her Grannie Camille. I will post some pictures from their time together as soon as I have time to download them from my camera.

Then on Saturday, we took Payton to have her Easter picture made. She was not a fan of the bonnet, but the photographer was able to get some really nice pictures. On Saturday, I also got a long overdue pedicure. (Heaven)

Derek was out of town in Surprise, Arizona for spring training and got back into town on Sunday, which was Pater's three month B-Day. He bought her a pink Ranger's shirt. Funny story about the shirt. In Derek's defense, he did call to ask about the size, but I didn't catch his call in time. He bought a "2" shirt. I explained to him that the "2" meant "2T" as for a two year old, not a baby. Oh well, she can wear it as a dress and then a shirt.

Payton got lots of lovely toys for her 3 month B-Day and is really starting to "play" with the toys. She is getting so big and she is starting to soak up her environment. She really loves watching Daisy.

Speaking of Daisy, we (okay I, did I mention Derek was out of town) bought a rug for our living room. Daisy was terrified of the rug. She wouldn't step on it for the first day. Well, I guess she got over that and on Sunday not only did she come onto the rug she proceeded to rub her butt on it. I caught her before she could complete the act and scared her to death. So now, every time she steps onto the rug she looks at me first to see if it is okay.

Payton will have another visitor this week. Her Memaw Linda is coming into town Thursday night and will stay through Saturday afternoon. I have already scheduled a hair appointment to get my hair highlighted early Saturday morning. Thanks Memaw Linda!!!

I'll update this post with pictures tonight (if Pater will let me).

Just Hanging Out With Grandpat

Getting ready to go to the store.

Shopping. Payton has really started to hate her carseat and screams everytime she is in it. So now, we have to take her out of the carseat and hold her while you shop. However, here she is posing for picture seating in the cart.

Here she is chillin' out while Grandpat gets the stoller ready. (I love how my mom only buttoned one of the buttons on her onesie).

Testing out the stroller.

Safety first.

The Cousin Chronicles (St. Patty Edition)

Cooper was a little disappointed that Payton was wearing green. He told Grandpat that he couldn't pinch Poppy June today because she was wearing green. Also, according to Cooper, you wear green today because it is Spring...... not St. Patty's day.

Here's a close up of Payton's face. She is starting to really full out.

Okay....... Grandpat. Please stop taking pictures. You are starting to freak me out.

Payton's Big Party

This photo has nothing to do with the title of the post, but it is my daily picture of Payton from my mom. In this picture you can actually see that her eyes are a deep blue. The doctor said they will more than likely stay blue because they would have changed by now.

Okay..... back to Payton's party. On Saturday night, Derek and I invited some of his friends over to have hamburgers and meet Payton. I don't know why I didn't take any pictures. However, Ms. Payton was wonderful and had to make three outfit changes. Not because she was dirty, but because she is such a cutie I had to show off all her different looks and styles. I think the big winner of the night was her jammies, which was a white onesie with her pink stripped leg warmers. I will have to take a picture of her in those so you can see the full cuteness of the outfit.

The Return of the Cell Phones

First of all, my new blackberry arrived yesterday and I couldn't be happier. Although, I am now forced to re-enter all my contact information. Boomer. Also, Grandpat is back to her routine of texting me pictures of our little Pater throughout the day. This is the first one of the morning.

Isn't she a doll? However, she is on the way to the doctor again. She has another cold and I want to make sure it isn't in her lungs or ears. She only gets sick after she goes to the doctor for her shots. Coincidence????

Blackberry + Water = Very Bad

First of all....... Yes, Ashley I am still alive. I was speaking to my dear friend Ashley last night as I tried to multitask and take a bath. I know..... not too smart. Well, I was just about to tell Ashley that I needed to go because I needed to finish bathing when I dropped my blackberry in the tub. I know poor Ashley just heard a screaming noise and then nothing. I couldn't call her back to tell her I was okay because my phone was dead and I didn't know her number. Who memorizes numbers anymore?

The good news is that I actually bought insurance on my phone. So, a new phone is being shipped to me. However, until then, I have a lovely go phone to use. Also, will everyone please call me again so I can program your number in my phone. Apparently, the sims (??) card is water proof; however, it knocked out all my contacts. Oh voy....... what a way to start off the week.

Bow Fix

Okay sports fan....... here is a new "bow" picture. Payton's great aunt Kaye gave her this bow for her 2 month B-Day.

What do you think? Is it too much?

I love it. The bigger the bow the better. And just look at how excited she is about wearing it.

Breaking News........

Grandpat just called me to tell me that our Pater has rolled from her stomach to her back for the first time. Our Pater is growing up so fast.

The Cousin Chronicles

Grandpat takes Cooper to his music class on Mondays and then to Little Sluggers on Tuesdays. "Poppy June" as Cooper calls her tags along. According to Grandpat, it is Cooper's job to let her know what Poppy June is doing on the ride to each activity i.e. sleeping, crying, looking around.

Well..... last Monday Cooper got in trouble for sticking his tongue out at Grandpat. So, on Tuesday on the way to Little Sluggers, Cooper reported that Poppy June was sticking out her tongue and wanted to know what Grandpat was going to do about it.

Payton and Mommy

A few comments on the photo above....
1) Notice the spit up on her mouth?
2) Oh lordy....... I need some lipstick.
3) Also, I need to make an appointment asap to get my highlighted.
4) No, I don't normally wear a jacket in my house, but since I am nursing I thought I would spare my mother-in-law from seeing just how tight my shirts are now from said nursing.
5) Is it me or does my hand look enormous?

Do you like the spit up on her mouth?

Bad Blogger

I know, I know. I have been bad about blogging. However, the "project" that I thought was done is not. I have been working some crazy hours. In an effort to go home and spend some quality time with Payton and the rest of my family, I have been getting into work at 6:00 a.m. in order to leave "early" meaning 6:30 or 7:00 at night.

However, we did have two important visitors this weekend...... Memaw Linda and Great Grand June. (Too bad I had to work on Saturday and didn't get to see them as much as I hoped). Anyway...... Memaw emailed me some pictures from this weekend. She apparently took quite a few pictures (I would guess over 50). The pictures brightened my day, and I promise I will post more pictures from their visit as soon as I have time and Memaw mails them to me on CD.

Payton June's Namesake..... her Great Grand June.

I love this picture. It is so, "Are you talking to me?"
