Under Attack !!

Help...... a nasty cold has invaded our house. Payton started feeling bad on Sunday. She never had a fever, but I did have to use the nose sucker a lot to get the constant snot out of her nose. I know TMI, but I cannot wait until she is old enough to blow her nose. Then on Monday I started to feel bad, and yesterday I had a full on cold. To make matters worse I had a scheduled CLE I had to go to. Therefore, I was in a huge conference room downing hot tea and blowing my nose every 10 minutes. Lovely..........

Then today Grandpat informed me that last night that she wasn't feeling well. She had three antibiotic pills left from a previous cold (yes, I know you are not supposed to take old medication, but when you feel like you are going to die I think it is okay). I told Grandpat to save herself because I think the worse was over for me and she needs her energy to keep Payton.

The only saving grace in all of this is that Derek has been in Houston for depositions so hopefully he won't get this nasty bug. Also, I would love to take today off of work to help out my mom, but I have a major deadline on Monday so I must work. Poor Me.......

Rangers

Last weekend Granny and Pops came in from Amarillo to see Payton and go to the Rangers' game. My Dad got a suite for the game, and we loaded up and headed to the Ballpark to see the Rangers beat the Red Sox's.

I have to tell you that a suite is the only way to go. There is nothing that beats air conditioning in the middle of August.

Here's our family decked out in our Rangers' gear. You can tell Payton was just so excited to be there.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that someone may have given Payton some chocolate ice cream at the game.

Granny also captured Payton in her Jeep. Look at how happy she looks.

Also, our little Hercules is standing up. She has been doing this for the past week. It was so funny when it first started because she would stand up and not realize she was standing. As soon as she realized it, her eyes would get huge and she would slowly sit back down.

Now she stands all the time with her toys. Of course we started clapping when she first started to stand. Therefore, now she stands and looks at us like, "Hello, I am standing. You are supposed to clap now people."

Beep Beep..... Woman Driver

Payton got some new wheels two weeks ago and she loves it. I have been meaning to get her on video because it is beyond funny to see her "drive" her Jeep around the house. Her Jeep is fully loaded and even has a cup holder. As Daddy says, only the best ride for our little girl. I wonder if he will be saying this when she is sixteen.

Her favorite part of the her new ride is eating the steering wheel.

Look at this face. How can you not love this face? Notice the drool (I think we are working on our second tooth) and the pure joy on her face from having 20 flashes go off in her eyes as Mommy tries to get the "perfect" picture.

I love you my little Pater Pot!

Friends in High Places

If Payton is gong to be the future President of the United States (of course this is after she is a professional ballerina, brain surgeon and discovers the cure for cancer) then she needs to start her networking now.

Here is a hint as to who Payton met yesterday.

Here is Payton waiting her turn to speak with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson who will soon be the Governor of this this fine State. You can tell she is thinking really hard about what important question she is going to as the Senator.

In the end, Payton and Kay (as we call her now because her and Ms. Payton are such good friends) had an indepth discussion about Payton's shoes.

Payton was really more interested in trying to take off her shoes than meeting the Senator. However, all and all Senator Hutchison was a really warm and nice person to meet. She even commended on how cute Ms. Payton was with her little curl.

Poor Mommy

Okay, first of all there will be no pictures for this post because I forgot to bring my camera. Sorry...... However, I did want to tell everyone that I am officially getting my butt kicked by a 7 1/2 month old. Little Miss Payton is strong and loves to "play" with Mommy. This would include, using my hair as reins when she stands up. This is just a little bit painful, and she always comes away with a fistful of hair. Ouch!!

Then there is the pinching game. This is where she lays on Mommy and pinches my face and that little piece of skin over my collar bone. I also have little claw marks on my face, and, yes, I trim her nails all the time. Double ouch!!!

Every now and then, Payton decides to head butt me. However, this is painful for both of us and I quickly forget my pain to soothe her.

Last but not least, Miss Payton has one tooth. One very sharp tooth. She is into biting with this one tooth. She has gotten my chin, cheek, shoulder and knee. She has also taken a bite out of something else, which I will not say, but it made Mommy scream out in pain and actually cry. I can honestly say that the one incident I am referring to was more painful than childbirth because at least with childbirth I was expecting pain and I had lots of drugs.

Despite the foregoing, my little girl is still my heart and I love her more and more each day.
