Allergies, Duh.....

So remember way back when in January when Payton barely failed her left hearing test at her well check-up?  Maybe you don't.  I will refresh your memory.  Apparently, Payton barely failed her left ear hearing test.  Her doctor wanted us to follow-up with an ENT just to be safe.  I love our ENT.  He has done all THREE of Payton's surgeries to put tubes in her ears.  My only complaint is that he is in the Southlake office only once a week.  Therefore, to get an appointment you have to go out about a month from when you call.  Well,  it just so happens on the day of her appointment she was diagnosed with her first ear infection in forever just a few days before.  So...... we had to reschedule.  Payton finally had her appointment yesterday.  The AWESOME news is that she passed all the hearing test and her ear nerves look awesome as well.  However........... he did say, although she passed with flying colors, that she has allergies and that is muffling some of the noises that she hears.

I wanted to scream and shout because I was so happy.  Not that I am happy that my kid has allergies, but that a doctor finally confirmed it.  We have known she has had allergies since she was about six months old.  However, I think all doctors have to tow the party line and say they can't confirm it until they are at least four.  Our ENT recommended an awesome pediatric allergy doctor, and Payton is scheduled to get allergy testing.  I can't wait to confirm what all my child may be allergic to in this world.  I have a small list that includes dust and whatever crap blows in from the west (which may still be dust) whenever the weather changes.  I also know that she is allergic to the red dye that you find in candy and Maraschino Cherries.   I know this because anytime she eats anything dyed red she will start to get a small rash below her lips and on her cheeks.

Also, on a separate note, Payton went to tennis again on Tuesday.  The tennis lesson is outside for a total of 30 minutes.  Last night as she was taking a shower, I noticed that she already had TAN lines from her tennis outfit.  Seriously?????  I am so jealous.  My kid can be out in the sun for a total of 30 minutes and already have a baseline tan.

The other part to her time in the sun is that her hair also turns lighter.  It almost goes blonde.  Therefore, in the summer she gets a gorgeous brown tan, light hair, and those two combined make her pretty blue eyes look even bluer.  I really think we are going to be in trouble during the teenage years.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day.

I noticed M already has tan lines too from her time outside at school.

Good luck with the allergy testing. A friend who recently did all the testing with her son and as she said, "confirmed he's allergic to everything in nature." :)
