Derek and I arrived in Tahoe at 1:30 California time. By the time we got to the hotel and got somewhat unpacked we were exhausted. The weather was perfect and we went out and rented our skis and had lunch at our favorite burger joint in Tahoe. The next morning we woke-up bright and early to hit the slopes. Here I am waiting to get our ski lift tickets.

And of course I snapped one of Derek. He just loves it so much when I do this to him.

You may be surprised to learn that I am not an expert skier. In fact, I am totally happy skiing the greens and taking in the sites. Derek is a way better skier than me, so we decided that we would do some greens in the morning together and then he would have the afternoon to ski whatever he wanted while I shopped, slept or did whatever.
We did our first green together and somewhere along the trail something went horribly wrong. This occurred to me as I rounded a corner and saw a very steep hill. I froze. Derek said, "I think we took a wrong turn somewhere." Really, you think? So I made my way down this steep hill (20 minutes later) and for the record I didn't fall once. I was relieved when I reached the bottom. However, that was short lived. Derek then told me, "We have to take this ski lift to get back to the greens, but we may have to do a blue to get back once we are off." I wasn't that worried until I saw two things: (1) the name of the ski lift was the Olympian; and
(2) the sign that said "Advanced Skiers ONLY." I really wanted to just sit on the side of the mountain and call for the ski patrol to get me down at that point, but I think I recall Derek saying something about leaving me if I did. So I got on the ski lift and when I got off this is what I saw.

Again, I put on my big girl ski pants and went down the mountain. I only fell once, and really it wasn't a fall more like I think I may hit the five year-old in front of me so I gracefully took one for the team to avoid the little kid. Then on our actual anniversary we went out to eat at Edgewood were we were married. We actually clean-up pretty nicely, but it is so dark it is hard to tell.

Here's the outside or Edgewood during the day.

And the picture of us outside of Edgewood that I asked a total stranger to take. Derek also loves it when I asked strangers to do this. Hey, that asked me take their picture so I didn't think it was too much to ask to return the favor.

The trip was amazing. I actually read a book that didn't have pictures, had a massage, facial and pedicure. It was perfect. However, I really missed Payton. I thought I would throw this picture in below to show why Derek and I should be parents of the year.

What can I say, Payton loves boxes. She found this one in the kitchen next to the trash and had a field day.
