Unusual Week Thus Far

This week has been a little unusual as far as our daily routine goes.  It all started on Monday afternoon when my mom called and asked if I could leave work early.  She wasn't feeling too well.  No big deal.  I left about thirty minutes early from work and picked up Payton.  My mom said she wasn't feeling too hot and just needed to sleep.  Then on Tuesday morning I was ready for work and about to wake up Payton to take her to my mom's house.  However, my mom called and said she felt worse and couldn't watch Payton today.  Payton didn't have school and she already missed dance last week.  No biggie.... I'll take Payton to dance and then maybe my mom would feel better and I could drop her off afterwards.  I also planned to take Payton with me to work on the off chance my mom was still under the weather.  I made my mom call the doctor that morning for an appointment.  Turns out my mom has the flu.  What????  I thought flu season was over and she got the flu shot.  So armed with this new information that my mom has the flu, my plans changed.  After dance, Payton and I went to pick up my mom's prescriptions.  I also had to track down kids Tamiflu for Payton.  FYI.......... there is still a shortage of the liquid Tamiflu.   So on Tuesday, I had an unexpected day off to watch Payton and administer medicine to my mom.

On Wednesday, we decided I would take Payton to school early (7:40 as opposed to the usual 9:30) and pick her up at 2:30 so I could actually go to work.  Payton was not used to getting going that early.  The doctor also called my mom again to say something was funny on her chest x-ray from the day before so she needed to come in for another.  Turns out......she also has pneumonia!!!  So after I picked up Payton, we went to Walgreens again and got my mom her second set of super strong antibiotics.   Last night my mom actually said she felt better.  I think all the medication from the past two days started to kick in and work.

Then last night, or early morning, our electricity went out from the storm.  I heard it click off sometime in the early morning.  I got up for work this morning, sans electricity, and got ready.  I tracked down a flashlight to pick out my clothes.  Why is it, even though you know the electricity is out, you always flip the switch on when you enter a new room?  Anyway............. right when I was done getting ready by flashlight at 6:30 the lights came back.  Just my luck.  At least the lights were on when I had to get Payton up and dressed for the day.

I am just grateful that my mom is starting to feel better.  I realized this week how truly lucky I am to have my mom watch and get Payton ready for school. I am also grateful that I work for a firm that completely understands when things out of my control happen and I am needed at home. Also, I am really grateful for electricity!!!

I will leave you  with pictures from last week of Payton and Cooper playing at my mom's house and exercising their second amendment rights.
