Father's Day

Our Father's Day this year was pretty low key.  Derek had to work a lot of the weekend to try to get ahead in order to actually go on vacation and relax.  We actually had our Father's Day dinner on Saturday by cooking out.  Derek received two gifts for the special occasion.

First up............. Jamba Juice......

Whenever Derek takes Payton to the park they always stop by Jamba Juice afterwards for a smoothie.  According to the story I have been told, by Payton, Daddy applied for a job at Jamba Juice and he really wants it.  According to Derek, he filled out one of their membership cards for frequent customers.  However, he told Payton he was applying for a job there.  Based on this, Payton has been talking nonstop about when Daddy gets hired at Jamba Juice he will need to wear the Jamba Juice outfit.  Therefore, for Father's Day, that is what Payton wanted to get him.  So.........I decided to be "creative."  I googled Jamba Juice and found a picture of an employee's uniform.  Payton also added her thoughts about what they wore.  Then we headed to Hobby Lobby for supplies.

 Here she is working on the hat. I think I am going to add this as a fun activity in the future.  She loved working with the cloth paint.

And here is the finished apron.  Next to it is the orange shirt we had to get to complete the uniform.

I know it is a little silly, but Derek loved it.  First of all, he can actually wear the apron when cooking if he wants.  Also, Payton wrote her name and some other graphics so that's always special.  Finally, it is their "thing" to wonder why Jamba Juice will not hire him.  Although, if Jamba Juice did call, Derek would already have the uniform.


We also got Derek a gift certificate for a relaxing massage.  Derek has always been into working out; however, he has been on this running kick.  He runs all the time and is doing a half marathon sometime this fall.  So, I thought I would treat him to a relaxing massage to ease any runner's aches he may or may not be having or bringing up in casual conversation.
