Sigh................

I can breath again. Payton's surgery went off without a hitch. It was literally five minutes. I am not kidding. From the time the nurse took her until we were back in recovery with her it was five (okay may be 7) minutes.

The hardest part was getting up so early. We had to be there at 6:00 a.m. We got there and she was all smiles and playing until the nurse wanted to weigh her and check her blood oxygen level. She started to scream. As soon as the nurse left she was walking around the pre-op area and taking her shirt off. Why was she taking her shirt off? I have no clue, but she was entertaining herself by taking it on and off.

Here is a picture of her before the sedative.

and after..............

They first gave her a nasal spray sedative and she screamed the entire time. The nurse said it would make her feel relaxed and pretty similar to being drunk.

Man she wasn't kidding. Within two minutes Payton was very relaxed and laughing. She was pretty loopy. Then the nurse came and got her and they ushered us back to a conference room to wait. My mom went to the restroom and when she came back she left the door open. As soon as my mom sat down, I saw Dr. Bauer coming back towards us. I thought he was going to tell me they were about to start. Wrong....... he said he was done and a nurse would come get us in a minute to take us to recovery.

When we went back there she was pretty out of it, but after ten minutes she started to come out of it. She slept all the way back to my mom's house. By the time I left to go to work she was back to being Payton. Thank Goodness!!!!!!!!!
