Strep Throat

That is what Payton came down with on Friday and it has knocked her on her butt.  Today is actually the first day she has been fever free for 24 hours.  She always had a low grade fever, but every night around 7:30 she would spike up to 102 or 103.  She has spent most of her days last weekend and this week like this:

Sleeping either on the sofa or in someone's lap.  She has had Strep before and the occasional 24 hour virus, but I have never seen her this sick for this long.  I also hate fevers.  They are so scary and they always come after normal hours for our pediatrician.

It also just happened that Payton's five year well check was on Tuesday.  Yes, I know she has been five for almost two months, but what can I say.........Mother of the Year.  Payton is almost 42 inches tall and weighs 33 pounds.  However, in her defense, she hasn't really been eating since she got sick.  Payton is in the 11% for weight, but she only has 1% body fat.  She is supposed to have 15% for her age.  Last year she was at 8%, but the doctor didn't seem too concerned because she took into consideration the Strep throat and lack of appetite.  However, she would like to see Payton beef-up a little. She also said that Payton is very active and asked about mine and Derek's metabolism.  I think she gets this from Derek because he has really high metabolism, and although I am not as in good as shape as I would like, I do pretty much eat what I want and can maintain an average body weight without exercising.  Although, the older I get the harder I find it is to keep this balance.


In other news, Payton went to kindergarten round-up at the private school Derek and I really like.  We toured another school, and I am sure it is wonderful; however, Derek and I didn't really get the warm and fuzzy feeling we got at the first school.  Here she is enjoying her first day out of the house and attending the kindergarten class.

I cannot tell you the mixed feelings I have about kindergarten next year.  The fact that she is old enough to even be attending a round-up still blows my mind.


What else........oh, here are some of the pictures I took of our ski trip, which this snowy weather is totally reminding me of today.

Emily got a ski outfit for Christmas.  Let me just tell you, those ski boots and skis are hell to get on and stay on.  However, I am glad Emily went to Utah with us because Payton loved teaching her how to ski in the condo.
