And being a little silly.
My good looking pair.
Derek said there was a ton of other little girls at the dance and Payton played her heart out. They also danced and enjoyed some refreshment.
Derek said that there was a dance off, but he was distracting her so she wouldn't noticed. I gave him a hard time and told him to do it. His exact text was, "I'll do anything for her, but not a dance off." I would have paid money for him to enter and to be a fly on the wall to see it.
After the dance, from 6-7:30, they went to a fancy restaurant. Derek was funny because he said that she ate just one of her chicken strips. I have a feeling that one chicken strip probably cost a lot of money. Next, the pair went to the ice-cream shop for a treat. (Where Payton had no problem eating all her ice-cream.) Payton informed me that she had a really fancy drink at the dance. What fancy drink to you think Payton was so impressed with? Punch. I almost died laughing.
My pair didn't get home until past nine. It was a win/ win because I really don't remember the last time I had an evening in my house ALL BY MYSELF. Don't get me wrong, I missed them like crazy, but the alone time was nice. I am also so happy that Derek wants to do this with her, and I think it is important that they get to spend quality time alone. I hope this tradition continues even into her teenage years. Maybe not a formal dance, but a date night with just the two of them.
