Easter 2013

There is so much to blog about that I don't really know where to start.  I guess I'll take it from the top.  We left out for Hereford at around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The only hiccup in our travels to West Texas was Derek's mysterious eye injury.  Apparently, sometime in the middle of the night on Wednesday, Derek scratched/ hit his left eye in his sleep.  It was so bad that he was tearing up and claimed to be going blind in that eye.  After googling the symptoms,  I determined that he somehow scratch his cornea and that it would heal within 24 to 48 hours.  Of course I offered to drive, but he refused until after we ate in lunch in Wichita Falls.  You know his eye really must have been bothering him if he wanted me to drive.

Once we arrived in Hereford, we checked into the hotel and met up with Mema.  Payton loved the cows and bulls they had everywhere.

On Friday, Mema took Payton to the park and Derek hit the gym.  The only gym in Hereford had a seven day free trial period.  Therefore, he signed up for his free trial, and I went back to the hotel to work.  First I had to take my car through the car wash because I think we took out a great big chunk of the bug population  with the windshield.

Also on Friday evening Mema had to jump into the hotel pool to save Payton.  Derek and I were in the pool with Payton.  I put Payton up on the side of the pool in front of where Mema and Keith were sitting.  I told Payton to sit there because Daddy and Mommy were going to have a race.  Well, Derek said go and I was in the middle of the pool before I heard Mema say she is in the pool.  I immediately turned around to go get her.  I guess Mema didn't think I was going to make it in time so she jumped in and rescued her.  Mema was fully dressed and just had her hair washed and straighten at the salon.  Oops!!  You think my kid would have been a little scared seeing Mema jump in and pull her above water.   However, that was not the case.  The first words that little stinker said was wanting to know who won the race.  We had a very long talk afterwards about pool safety.

On Saturday we were off to Amarillo for the second half of the Easter activities.  All I can say is that it was a blast.  Payton loved hanging out with Addison and Jackson.

They dyed eggs and made basket cupcakes.

Jackson is all boy, and I love it.  You see those two eggs in his hand.  He started smacking them together to see if they would make noise.  Then he said, "Oh, no they broke."  Then he tried to do it again.

Then it was off to the Easter egg hunt.

Jackson was so funny.  He thought the plastic eggs were the confetti eggs.  So he would pick them up and then whack the ground or Addison and Payton with them.   We very quickly explained to him that the confetti eggs would come later.  I didn't get any pictures of the confetti egg fight because I had to defend myself, but it was so much fun.  Also, if you don't get all the pieces of confetti off your body then you may discover that you have dyed yourself in multicolored specks when you take a shower the next day.  Just saying.

On Sunday the Easter Bunny came and we had breakfast with the whole family before we headed back home.  We stopped in Vernon to take our potty break and let Payton "drive" in the parking lot of Tractor Supply.

Payton was really awesome on the trip.  I did learn that the iPad has about a six hour battery life when being played with nonstop.

Overall we had a great Easter Holiday.
