Well, it turns out that life has a funny way of smacking you in the face. On Sunday night I could tell Payton wasn't feeling well. I just assumed that it was her allergies starting up due to all the dust and wind from West Texas. No biggie. Then on Monday she woke-up at two in the morning shaking with fever (101.3) and telling me her nose wasn't doing its job. Meaning she couldn't breath out of her nose because it was so stopped up with congestion. First thing Tuesday morning we called her doctor. However, the doctor said she couldn't see Payton until today. So last night we did her breathing treatment (for her allergies), covered her in Vick's Vapor Rub, and dosed her up with Motrin. She slept through the night, and had a low grade fever this morning. She also went to the doctor this morning, and she has a double ear infection (seriously, I can't remember the last time she had one of those) and an infection in her eyes. The doctor thought it was pink eye, but it turns out it is from all the crap draining out of her eyes because she is so congested. Lovely, I know. So now we have antibiotics for the ear infections and eye drops for her eyes. The good news is the doctor said that she is on the downhill swing of the infection.
It is my own personal theory that she got this infection from a birthday party at one of those bounce house places. This is the second time I can remember her going to that type of venue and turning up sick a week later. I know I have nothing to support this, but it is just odd that any time she gets ill (last time flu this time a bacterial infection) it is right after she attends a birthday party. I think I am going to have to start being that mom that coats her in hand sanitizer each time she leaves and enters a new bounce house to jump.
