Once we are in the kitchen, Payton is still screaming and Derek and I are trying to see where the cut is, but there is so much blood. We finally find it and clean it with hydrogen peroxide, while trying to apply pressure. There may have been some snappiness when I couldn't located the hydrogen peroxide right away. Something along the lines of we have a three year old and we don't have any? Maybe followed by, "Well you used it last and if you would put things up where you get them from I would be able to find it." Just saying that may or may not have happened.
Okay....... so we are cleaning and adding pressure while Payton has calmed down, but knows that Mommy and Daddy are in a big debate at whether this should warrant a trip to the ER. The bleeding stops and we go and wash her hair. We do more hydrogen peroxide in the bath. After I brush her hair, I get a flat round cotton swab and put a glob of Neosporin on it and stick it on her head. I also facebook a doctor friend and ask her about stitches. She said as long as it has stopped bleeding that stitches are not necessary. However, a dog or human bite will require antibiotics because of the risk of infection. Payton is still on antibiotics from her previous week of sickness; however, I am going to call her pedi to tell her what happened and to see if she needs more.
I know this is not a very good picture, but here is a picture of her first major boo-boo.

It is right on the top of her head.............. She was fine about five minutes after it happened. Although, I think Mommy and Daddy were a little worn out from the sudden panic attack of having to go into emergency mode.
Fingers crossed that tonight is uneventful.

Goodness! I swear it would really help parents' nerves in such situations if the head didn't bleed so much. It tends to ALWAYS seem worse than it is and I'm glad that was the case for you all.
Hope Derek feels better soon and that you have a calm day!
I know..........the cut isn't so bad, but all the blood. You would have thought it was a major stab wound.
