Sickness All Around and Competive Gaming

The good news is that Payton is feeling better. She has been fever free since Friday. The bad news is that now Derek, myself and my Mom are all sick. Every now and then I read a story about someone who has made it through kindergarten through high school without ever missing a day. Before having a child I didn't think it was that big of a deal. However, now that Payton is here, all I have to say is HOW DID THEY DO THAT? Seriously, kids are like little carrier monkeys that just spread the sickness to one another and then to their parents.

Since we were all pretty much house bound this gorgeous weekend, we played some of the board games that Santa brought Payton. Seriously, was the weather not wonderful this weekend? Sigh.... too bad the Cargill household was feeling under the weather to enjoy it. Payton decided that she wanted to play Candy Land. Of course, Derek and I are super competitive with one another. Payton wants to play the game the right way for all of two minutes before she has an idea for another game. That being said, I would have won both games of Candy Land and the one game of Chutes and Ladders we played. Derek may have a different take on this.

Round 1 (Candy Land)

I was winning. In fact I was one card away from the King's Candy Castle. Payton drew the next card for Daddy. It was a card that would have sent him back to an ice-cream or something. Of course Derek disputed this and argued that Payton did not pull the card from the top; therefore, he didn't have to go. He also tried to argue that it would have been mine. I know for a fact she pulled it from the top; however, Derek insisted that we discard that card and draw again. However, we were out of cards so he declared an impasse with no winners.

Round 2 (Candy Land the rematch)

Again......... I was winning. However, Payton decided she wanted to play another game (which is usual). However, this time she picked up all the pieces and started cleaning up the game. Of course, Derek called another impasse.

Round 3 (Chutes and Ladders)

Another game I was kicking everyone's butt in. I was one row from winning. However, like usual, Payton got bored and started cleaning up the game before it was over.

Therefore, I decided that there would be a new rule for games. Whoever was winning when the game was called was the winner. Derek doesn't agree with this rule and stated that he will not acknowledge it as part of the game playing process.

What do you think? I think I was the clear winner all three times.

You were totally the winner in each case... Tell Derek to man up, accept his defeat(s), and starting acting within the age range listed on the box, not younger ;)

Yes, you were definitely the winner.

And if it makes you feel better, we stayed inside during the glorious weather to watch football. We don't even have a good excuse . . . besides being selfish parents who put our wants above our child's. :)
