Memorial Day Weekend 2010

We had such big plans for Memorial Day and they almost worked out. However, what is a holiday in the Cargill house without a trip to the ER? That's right folks, another holiday and another ER visit.

The weekend started off pretty low key. On Saturday we stayed home all day while the wonderful men repaired our A/C. Then that evening we went to a pool party over at the Taylor's house. It was a blast and Payton loved the water. It was so cute because Derek and I would pass Payton off in the pool and we would always say, "You got her?" Well, Miss Payton, being the child genius that she is, picked up on this and she would say, as we were passing her, "I got her."

Sunday was another low key day of sleeping in and some shopping. We were planning on going to the zoo early Monday morning. However, Payton woke up with a slight fever. I gave her some Tylenol and off we went. We arrived at the zoo right when it opened, and we left exactly an hour later. Miss Payton started burning up and fell asleep.

We went to my mom's house to swim (although Payton didn't get in the water or the sun). She seemed to be doing better. I think she was on a Tylenol high. She went down for her nap and at four in the afternoon she was burning up with a 104.1 fever. Needless to say we were off to...........

Where we stayed for the next six hours. They did a chest x-ray and tested her for strip throat. She was negative for strip throat, but her x-ray showed some light streaking. Meaning she may have had a mild case of pneumonia. She was given some medicine, which we had filled right then and we finally made it back to my mom's house at midnight. Every time we would switch rooms Payton would say, "bye, bye." She wanted to leave. They also did a power suction on her nose and they had to hold her down. She was screaming and I was crying. She also screamed during the x-ray yelling for mama and looking at me. I cried again.

Poor baby girl is still not well and we went to her doctor yesterday for more blood work. This time they had to get the blood from her arm. She screamed the whole time and it took about three minutes and she was yelling for mama and asking "all done, mama? all done, mama?" It broke my heart and I cried harder then she did. I have never truly understood the meaning of wanting to take some one's pain away until that day. I would have cut off my arm if it would have made her feel better or stop them from having to hold her down to do test. The blood work showed it was a virus, but want her to stay on the medication.

She seems to be feeling better, but she is still under the weather.
